Abstract landscapes with bold and striking colours
Reimagining landscape through colour, structure and emotion
My work sits between abstraction and representation, using bold colour and simplified form to re-interpret the landscape.
Influenced by both the Fauvism and Expressionism art movements, I use colour expressively rather than descriptively — allowing it to carry mood, structure and emotional weight.
Rather than capturing a place as it appears, I’m interested in how it is remembered —
when it is shaped by light, atmosphere and feeling.
The Process
My process begins with an intuitive response to landscape, often drawing on memory rather than direct observation.
Having said this, I do also have a passion for photography and will often use my own references as inspiration.

I build each piece through several layers, allowing colour and composition to evolve gradually.
There’s a balance between control and spontaneity, where marks are both deliberate and instinctive.

Working in this way allows colour to take on a more expressive role — guiding the structure of the painting as much as the subject itself.

I always use professional artist grade materials and opt for Australian made wherever possible.
Materials
I work primarily in oils on canvas, using a layered approach to build depth, richness and intensity of colour.

At times, I incorporate acrylic and mixed media within the process, allowing for greater flexibility in mark-making and surface development.

This combination supports a balance between control and spontaneity, which sits at the core of my practice.

Each piece is created by hand as a one-of-a-kind original.

My original paintings are framed in-house and any art prints are created by me using high-quality acid-free, vegan-friendly paper.
